Comprehension monitoring strategy guide
The Comprehension Monitoring Strategy Guide is similar to the Interactive Think Aloud because they both monitor comprehension during reading. With the CMS (Comprehension Monitoring Strategy), students must continue to monitor their understanding and for those less profient readers, they can continue to ask themselves, "Does that make sense?" allowing for self monitoring (Miller & Veatch, 2011, p. 89).
It has been proven, students who correct false statements are able to comprehend the text better than those who read the material twice. The reader is continually checking for corrections and proving their response (Miller & Veatch, 2011, p. 89). It is also easy for the teach to assess comprehension through the CMS Guide. They check not only if they agree or disagree with the statement, but also what concept proves this (Think Port, n.d.). procedure
tied to writing
During the CMS Guide, the students are writing whether or not they agree with the teacher's statements and then they have to give their reasoning and proof from the text that helps support their answer. Students will show an understanding of the text because they will write the concept in their own words.

(Salsich, 2009)
What I enjoy most about this video is the fact that the students created it. It is very engaging for children because they are students just like them being the "experts" on the topic. It talks about different strategies, that they call "Fix it Strategies" to help with the comprehension of the text, then them demonstrate the strategy. This would also be great for teachers use to assess students understanding. If the teacher had students create a video to show their understanding of the Comprehension Monitoring Strategy, they would be able to see their comprehension.
